Fjordamattunet
The Fjord Food Garden is built around Kari Støfringsdal's unique expertise in traditional food and food culture.
In the old farm in Støfringsdal in Vassenden, the couple Kari and Odd Støfringsdal have built a unique activity center with an emphasis on promoting traditional food and food culture. A new kitchen with a wood-fired baking room has been built in the old dairy room and pig barn. Here, food is cooked together, and a good meal is a very important part of the overall experience; learning, experiencing and enjoying. In line with the kitchen, the couple has direct access to the old barn building, where the family has held weddings and arranged concerts, including during the Førde International Folk Music Festival.
Fjordamattunet offers courses in traditional baking such as lefse, flatbread, potato cake and svelekake. In the wood-fired baking room we make pizza and buns, good breads with both yeast and sourdough.
We also have seasonal courses such as preserving fruit, berries and vegetables, making sausage and Christmas spreads.
